ATI's 4800 Series: HD 4850, 4870 reviewed

ATI launched its HD 4800 series cards, the HD 4870 and HD 4850, both of which are based on the new RV770 GPU architecture. These cards are both the company's latest salvo against NVIDIA and a potential vindication of a GPU design that first debuted in the much-maligned 2900XT. The HD 4800 series is aimed squarely at the midrange $199 and $299 price points currently occupied by NVIDIA's 9800 GTX.
